About

The Brain Cancer Virtual Institute is conducting research to better understand and treat brain tumours. It unites the CRUK Children's Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence, aligned CRUK Brain Tumour Research Award, key elements of the Cambridge CRUK RadNet Unit and the Minderoo Precision Brain Tumour Programme.

Brain tumours have been identified as a cancer of unmet need by CRUK. Average survival for glioblastoma is poor and little has changed in treatment options over the past 30 years.

Our mission:

To improve brain cancer outcomes for the patients of today and tomorrow

We will do this through our innovative approach:

  • Investment in tissue banking

  • Integration of big data and big ideas e.g. integrated cancer medicine

  • Exploration of early detection in brain tumours

  • Supporting excellence in training and education with neuro-oncology
